Sub-Floor & Joist Replacement.

A floor you can't feel anymore.

The Work

Spongy floors, sloping rooms, and termite-eaten or rot-compromised joists are our specialty. Depending on damage extent we sister joists, splice rotted ends, or fully replace structural members to current code. Sub-floor decking is replaced with the right grade and thickness for the finish floor going back over it.

Method · 5 steps

  1. 01

Open finish floor and assess every joist + the sill plate.

  2. 02

Sister, splice, or replace structural members per current code.

  3. 03

    Re-deck with appropriate sub-floor (3/4 T&G plywood standard).

  4. 04

Tie new framing into existing — squared, level, fully nailed.

  5. 05

Restore finish floor (tile, hardwood, vinyl, carpet) to match.

Frequently asked

Do you have to remove the whole floor?

+

Usually no. We pull just enough to access compromised framing. On extensive damage we sometimes re-deck a whole room, but we always quote the smallest viable scope first.

What about the existing flooring?

+

If it's tile or hardwood we save what we can and reinstall to match. If it's older carpet/vinyl we typically replace, since reusing it rarely looks right.
